As far as the canopy can I make one and put the led fixture in there? OR would no canopy be better?
 
Aaron is a great resource! Check out my 190g build, link in my sig. You'll see my LED fixture and the driver board he built for me. There are endless ways to setup up LEDs. Canopy, no canopy, big heatsink, aluminum channeling, etc etc
 
I've seen your build and got most of the idea from it, thanks for taking the time and taking all those pics and writing a detailed build!

Jose quick question...

I was thinking of making a canopy for the top of my tank. Would this be fine with the led system or would ot produce too much heat.
 
I think you could use a canopy just fine. Will this be the type of canopy that sits directly on the tank, or is hung over the tank? If it sits over the tank, just build it so the back is open (most canopies are built that way anyways for equipment, filters, etc). That would allow enough air to circulate in.
 
Well havent really made any progress since we wasted a good chunk of the money this weekend.. >.<

The plan was for this weekend to order all the lights, the driver, and power supply + buy the wood for the canopy.

We were going to go buy the wood today but the weather sucked and it will have to be delayed till tomorrow.

I will post pics of how i made the canopy and will hopefully be buying the LED's by this coming weekend.
