diy lighting for canopy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, the wood work, trim, and finish is all completed on the canopy. I'd like to move onto painting it. The inside will be white to reflect the light and the outside black. Is there a specific type/brand of paint I should use to prevent water damage?

Here's the canopy prior to paint. Gotta go get some supplies today. Overall, I'm really happy with the results. Amazing how a 4x8 sheet of wood can turn into something so nice with a little hard work and sweat. The center piece is obviously being supported right now since I'm going to paint the base first, paint the center piece seperate, and then put it back on.

Nothing like saving a couple hundred bucks by doing it yourself. You can't tell by the pics but all the finshing pieces of wood were rounded using a router (which definitly took some time). The trim pieces were cut at 45 degrees to give it that nice clean corner at the top. I think I'm going to paint the center piece green with accents of red into it.
