Thanks!

Today I tried my 'perfect edge' idea. It didn't go so well.

Here's the jig:

And here's the aftermath:

I think the problem was that my workpiece drifted off the cutter. The first few cm were fine, then the corner started chipping, and finally when I went completely off, the cutter grabbed the piece and snapped out a section. I think with a lot more care it would be possible to use this system, but one wrong move and your workpiece is toast.

I'm trying to figure out if this one can be saved. The only idea I have so far is to use the circular saw to cut off the affected end, but I'm not sure if the sawblade will be big enough, and if the results will be good enough to use the Weld-on #3 (which finally arrived).

If you guys have any ideas about rescuing this piece, and or how to get a flat edge on subsequent pieces, I'm all ears!

Wow, this is a highly informative thread. Thank you for taking to the time to test out some many methods for bending acrylic. I've been looking for a decent way to do so. All I have to work with are DIY supplies, not a lot of commerical hardware.

Keep up the great work.
