DIY overflow?

i actually found that the check valuve didn't work all that great when i made mine, a simple airline flow valve works better, imho.

I thought a check valve & a flow valve are the same thing.
Am I wrong?

I'm assuming he means a needle valve you use for controlling air flow.

You need to use the check valve that has the little spring inside, I forget the name but it's more reliable in this case.

These things were never meant to check air, just water...that's why they leak a little.

yea, that's what i meant. ime, the check valve did not stop 100% of the air from flowing back into the overflow and killed my syphon, so i added a valve that completely cut off the air flow and had no problems.
