hey guys i am in the process of setting up my 300 gal tank and the wife wanted pendant lighting over it 3 evenly spaced across the 8ft tank no big deal im thinkin that is until i get to the local home improvement store these things start at 35 a piece so i do a little thinkin i bought 3 clamp on lamps the kind with the metal reflectors took the clamps off cut the cord and slid a nice glass shade over the metal after spray painting it her accessory color put a decorative cap at the ceiling where the cord runs through and threw in 65 watt power compact flood light bulbs the light output is amazing and counting the bulbs i only spent 52 dollars on all three lights i will try to get some pics up if there is any interest in the finished product oh yeah it only took about 2 hours including installing the plug above the ceiling and the timer

Yours do look pretty decrotive, however...
What bulbs are you using? They look like 40w....you should see what the max is for the fixture because fish need more light than that.
