Im not really unsatisfied, i just want something more simple. At the moment there is 4x30w led, 2x49w t5, and 2x58w t8. Would be nice with just 3, but dont really know what to go for, should be something with alot of wattage, but i also want the correct light. At this moment the leds are 6500 kevlin and 2500 lumen, i love those. As you guys say too, the colors of the geos are spectacular. The issue is that i have some deadspots in the tank(when it comes to light), those are the once i want away. Not to much light, but the same everywhere :)

Tor regarding your setup and stock selection I would like to say for me is about perfect. The way you have setup the tank is amazingly natural and I personally think eartheaters, severum and discus are my favourite fish. I have watched your video about 10 times!
I hope to have something similar one day.
Regarding your lighting, I guess its each to their own but "dead spots" as you call them are a normal occurance in nature and in my mind make the setup even more realistic.
All In all perfect. More videos please, especially of those altifrons!

My 650 aswell as most other tanks have dead spots of light due to lack of available electrical plugs. Ive added more light to fill the spots on the 650 and actually like it better with less light so now i run just one 4' t8 and its enough to fill a 9x4 footprint. I think its amazing to see the color change of fish when they do enter the brightest place in the tank. I think you have plenty light already. U have an exellent combo of specimen i must say. Exellent work and a very classy build!

I love my combo aswell, i was all about keeping it friendly, and biotope correct. Working out pretty good, there is a little fighting, but its just towards same species. I added a little more light today, just to check it out, had a industrial 2x58w laying around. Put it on the left corner where you can see some discus hiding away. I have bin really annoyed about the fact that the discus find the darkest place in the tank, stay there all the time and never show their actuall beauty. The tubes are wrong now tho, they are 3000 kelvin, so its a little peeyellow atm. Fits the theme actually(brown\yellow amazon water), but the colors on the fish are not very spectacular. I will try to make a film tomorrow.

I want to thank you all for the positive feedback, keeps me going :D:D:nilly:

Sounds like an interesting mix of lighting, I actually quite like the "dead spots" but I can see your frustration if you never get to see the discus! I guess it depends how much time/money/effort you want to go to, you're obviously pretty good with the DIY so why not looking at building a couple of big banks of LEDs that mount to the ceiling above the tank, and have various colour temperatures that are able to be dimmed so you can get the right look for the tank.

How do you find the discus with the plecs and other cichlids? What sort are they?
