DIY rack system for 9 tanks. Will take a while

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you could save money most likely by getting 2x6 or 2x8 which would be stronger and use less wood for the frame if its bolted to studs in a wall.you need to share the idea with a blueprint if you need some advice.and pictures help.

Stand is already done. ;)

I'll get some pix up tomorrow. I need to add plywood over it, and add the middle brace.

IMO if you are running the tanks all off of one central system, I would just drill the top corners, a durso will take up un necessary room, and this way you'll have more room, and then it looks neater, and works better.
I would explain more but im tired lol.

No need to explain more. ;) I decided that it would be better to drill the corner than the bottom. I will look cleaner and take up less room.

The rack will hold 6 20 gallon tanks. I changed the original design. I'm not sure if I already mentioned it though.

I'll need:
3) 300w heaters
24) bulkhead fittings
7) elbows
12) threaded elbows
20) feet of 3/4" tubing
1) end cap
38) threaded hose barbs
2) diamond hole saws
2) "Y"'s
9) ball valves
10) "T"'s
2) check valves
20) pvc x reduced threaded 3/4" barbs
20) packs of scrubbies
1) airline check valve

That is for the filtration. I'm almost done with the sump, I just need to take a few more trips to home depot. Then tanks, and then I'll be ok.

I have to add the center supports. I have two for the front, two for the back. Then put ply wood on top and in the front, and get the tanks.

Stand looks good my friend.
How big of a sump are you going to use on this system?

20 gallon sump. A few filter socks. It may not seem like a lot, but I'll be passing the water through the filter over 15 times an hour.
