DIY Shrimp Trap

Hello world!! I've been looking for any info on how to build your own shrimp trap. There's this bridge in Cocoa beach where lots of people catch their own shrimp so I'd like to give that a shot. Does anyone here know how or where I can get the "How-To's" on building a shrimp trap? I'd really appreciate it...

They are made like a crawfish trap, only bigger.

Also, you make a ramp on both sides. When fishing, just drop it down along a sea wall. The shrimp will scoot along the bottom next to the sea wall in both directions. Then they go up the ramp and drop into the trap.

Just don't make them too nice looking and leave them unattended.

Actually if the regulations are like the old days, shrimp traps must be attended. I haven't looked at the regulations in over ten years.

i used to make them like a crab or crawfish trap only with 1/4" wire
and cotton seed meal/shrimp meal for baite cand cat/dogfood also works

Bait? We've always run them without bait. The shrimp migrate back and forth along the sea walls. You use that to your advantage if you are fishing from shore. I guess it couldn't hurt though.
