if u slide the tube down almost to the bottom and have wholes drilled in it it will provied. how can i say this right. A more equal distribution of debreis over a wider area of the spong. and prove all the more filtration

You said it perfectly. It won't increase flow...but, it will distribute the available flow over more of the filter surface. Well said.

Glad people are getting something from my sticky and these great little filters. Thanks for the kind words.

Jeff: have you seen the DIY mattenfilter?

Ok that makes alot more sence when explained this way. Thanks. But is just a little air pump like this going to be enough power if i do it that way and drill holes in it. And stuff the tube all the way down the ponge like that.

No i did not c the diy mattenfilter. Was that in the sticky. Can you post me a link to it here for me. If you check this thread again thank you. And yes i got alot of good information out of that sticky never read it before. And i have owned 50 percent of the filter i know of ingeneral. And have never looked twice at sponge filter untill i read that. Allways just considered them filters for 3 gallon tanks i guess. It was a great read. Im glad you took the time to make it for every one less informed on them.

Air pump or powerhead wich ever way u go with it. if the holes are drivllled going down the tube u will get more even distribution of filtraion over a brader area. Wich is what u want. I also use to take a sponge and slide it over the intake tubes of my hang on back filters and my canister filters when i had fry in the tank to prevent them from geting sucked up. Sponges rock

I could very easily take this little sponge filter i made and slide it on a hob. Because it is the intake tube off of my emperor that is on this tank. The only reason that i have it set up this way with the air pump, air line, and air stone, Is becausce i liked the idea of have a little sponge filter in the tank collection bb that runs on bacteries if the power goes out. Allso i did that to a ac110 before when i tried colltavating my own blood worms. which i mean stuffed a sponge on the intake tube. And i dont know if i just had bad luck but it screwed up my impeller to the filter. I thought it was from it getting less flow to the filter. Thankx again for the comments
