I will try that and post the results. Btw, what kind of paint should I get?

Has anyone else noticed that the water does not look level? that could be unsafe for your tank.

Good Observation, I will definitely put a 1" thick Styrofoam sheet under the aquarium when I set it up in the dining room.

Today I got GRIPPER primer which is a grey color. I also got a high gloss black paint by BEHR.

I sanded the tank with 220 grit and then applied a coat of the primer to the stand. Tomorrow I will apply the paint.

Everything looks fine so far. :)

Pictures tommorrow.

if you want it to turn out nice.. sand the coat of primer you have now, wipe it all down with a damp rag (wet it and ring it out almost dry) to get the dust off, make sure it's dry and put another coat of primer on. ...do the same thing before you put on the black.. and when your first coat is dry.. rub it down with #4 steel wool. ...make sure you get #4 because it's the finest stuff.

Not bad. But food for thought, remove the hardware first then paint the entire cabinet. Hardware being the door hinges and knob, then paint it completely. Also I see you have some paint on the wood grain base of the tank. Remove the paint with some paint remover or thinner. Let it dry. After its tried, get yourself some painters tape (blue) and tape the base of the tank or if you rather, remove the tank. Do this before you paint another coat of gray primer.

If you want it to look good in your dinning room, you gotta take the necessary steps to paint it right. :D
