DIY stand for a stand

If the highest the water has gotten is 6 inches, why not just use 1 cinder block, which would give you 8" of height? Then you wouldn't have to worry about joining 2 blocks and the extra 'tippiness' that would result. At 2 blocks high, i'd want to anchor them to the concrete, but then I have a 2 year old who likes to do pull ups on the edge of my tank...
 
The blocks I am using are two high but they are about the same height as a concrete/cinder block when stacked on top of each other. They are solid unlike the concrete block. Total height is 5-6" so it shouldn't be top heavy.
