lol i was thinking the same thing but i think it might be the photograph., back in the 80's they bairly had c-a-m-e-r-a-s let alone digital cams... its like working with sticks and stones...
I wasn't born yet neither...
But the first stand I ever helped my father make was when I was 6? I probably didn't help much but it was fun >.<

Old stands are like us old guys. Still look good after years of abuse. 
Looks good. I think the middle "bow" is just from the center support sagging a little from the light weight. My 125 looked that way when it was brand new.
And I was 23 in '87
