I built my stand and everything is level. It's currently 3/4 full , i'm just testing to make sure everthing is ok with the tank on the new stand.

The only thing that concerns me is that on the front right of stand, the supports aren't touching the top and bottom. When i move the tank by hand it rocks back and forth but not side to side only on the right hand side.

I know screws can hold alot of weight but i was wondering should i drain the tank and replace the wood or would it be fine the way it is? The tank is never going to be rocked back and forth.

2x4s are cheap. I would make them touch and glue them in along with the screws. how big is the tank?

It's about 38 gallon, i was thinking that. To recut them and then hammer them into place so i know they are touching.

So you would say to remove them and replace them with fresh cut 2x4?

actually for a 38 gallon tank I wouldn't worry as long as its level. the 2x4 on the side can support that weight by itself.

That one isn't touching either thats the problem. I have some spare 2x3 . i could put it on the side i have marked or i replace both 2x4 with new 2x3 or 2x4.

that board is over kill but I like over kill so you can redo it, but its not needed. now if this was a bigger tank I would say replace it for sure.

Is it worth adding a 2x3 to the side where i marked it blue just so something is touching the top and bottom on the right hand side?

its up to you as what would give you piece of mind. it wouldn't hurt anything.

I know the screws alone could hold this tank because its not a big weight and the rest of the stand is fine. think it just worries me is nothing on that corner is holding any weight apart from the screws. I think i will add the 2x3 just so there is something on it.
