No shipping for right now. It would cost a lot of money cause the material is kind of heavy.

It would work just the same with an overflow box. I was told that my 55G for a 220G was over doing it, but it's always better to be on the over-filtration side.

I might be looking into changing the filter sock part of the filter. With the bio-load that I have in the tank now, it makes the sock get plugged up in no time. But, I am still trying to figure out the best way to do it.

aiigh so i built mine lastnight :) found a lady on craigslist getting rid of some corian countertop, brought it home and scrubbed it up and made a mess of my driveway while cutting LOL, mine is a 30gal so i did have to downsize it a bit.... the caulk job isnt pretty but hey it works.... i will be using a different route with the polyester filter fiber where your sock is, but im not sure on which bio filter to use....

my question is, did you run the sump for a while to get any possible contaminates out? i used the GE window caulk like said but it seems to have a high potency smell to it

i will have some pictures up when my camera finishes charging

thanks for the great DIY!!!!! :) i think so far i have $35 in this filter and thats including the gas to go get the corian :D

took some pix :) tell me what you think.....

im gonna fill it to check for leaks tomorrow and probably let it cycle for a lil bit before placing it under the tank

Right on arribapirate...that looks awesome. Glad to see that someone else was able to find some Corian. It's pretty easy to work with and very sturdy, which comes in handy with the drip plate. I know what you are talking about with it creating a mess though.

If I remember right....I ran the filter without bioballs or the filter sock for a couple of days to check the flow and to clear out any contaminates from the Corian and the silicone.

Not a bad filter for $35.

PS...I will soon be removing the filter sock on mine. It's too hard to keep clean.

Post some updates with it running and thanks for the pics. :headbang2

thanx man :)

i did move the blue wire to the end instead of the side so i could still lift it out, but im still not getting water to the end of the board.... i am going to try and add a lil cliff to the top of the "waterfall" part and see if it helps, or i might shave some off the pegs so the bio ball top board will slope to see if it will run properly

other than that everything is holding up great!!!!

it will be running from there into a UV sterilizer then into my tank which is a 150gal

its still a toss up on what im going to put in it though, either african ciclids or a FW stingray
