That is a really good looking stand! Good sturdy construction. Personally a piece of MDF board that fits the foot print sitting on the 2x4s that sit on the ground will add a lot more strength.

put the flat pieces on top and bottom now need to get some stuff for panelling. for the panels.. would liquid nails or wood glue be sufficient?
i would use liquid nail,wood kind,with finish nails. 
get some wood filler for the finish nails,get one close to the color of your wood.

While liquid nails should hold fine, but make sure the wood panels are not to thick and heavy.
