DIY tank from sliding door?

just for reference, the glass in sliding doors is normally 1/4" if they are single pane, or 3/16th thick if they are insulated dual pane. even if you find one from florida with impact rated glass, it still would only be 5/16th thick laminated glass.

when compared to the cost of water damage, cutting corners on the cost of glass is a bad idea.

If its tempered you can't cut it. It will just shatter to pieces. Tempered glass is cut to shape then tempered.
 
too thin-its 2 pains of glass with argon gas inbetween usually and will never hold the pressure from the water.
