DIY Tank; Scared of the corners not being sealed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What do you work to seal around the glass; silicone or the same poly? Looks great so far... what are the dimensions of this tank? With it being so low and long it would seem great as a riffle tank for darters. Looks great so far... keep us posted!

Will agree. Seems like it may be easier than the bondo I used on the corners of my tank.

I use silicone for the glass. The dimensions are 72"x30"x16". Its only that short from another build I did. I ordered 2 pieces of glass and this is the second. The first was only 24" wide.

I definitely love how wide it is. I dont think I'll build anything less wide again. You can do so much w/ the landscape. And its funny you mention darters. Im in ohio and we have darters thoughout. I know a place thats literally w/in 2 miles of me, where I can easily catch about a dozen without even getting wet. I cant tell what they are yet but they look like johnny darters..anyone want some? lol

forgot to add these pics. just a few, I'll go take some either tonight or tomorrow. Not a whole lot of progress. I put a few coats on each side..

Heres a few more pics. I usually put the first coat on very thin. Im trying to allow the wood to soak up as much as possible vs. globbing it on and hoping is soaks before it sets. Im working on 2 tanks at the same time, hence the slow build..
