ok........

IMO

this is the best diy setup for trouble free thermostats for monster tanks.

the panel with the digital readouts is the temperature control panel

3 each chromalux 1600 industrial temp controls
3 each square d power relays
not shown 3 each temperature sensors

one temp sensor to each controller
one controller to each power relay ( 40 amp capacity)
one SS heater 4000 watts ( 20 amps ) to each power relay

not yet installed is an over temp cutout with will kill the heater if the tank is too hot.

also shown is the diy pump control panel below the temp panel.
larger motors require a 'motor starter" which both controls the heavy inrush current as well as protect the motor from overload ( similar to a circuit breaker)

also shown are two side by side power panels....

these are each 100 amp 3 phase panels supplying the house of sam and the new 1000 gallon tank with power.

also not shown is the backup generator which can run the whole show in emergencies

thanks to cybr for all the help !!!:)

Seriously John you operate at a completely different level than the average man let alone fish keepers!

I was with you all the way until 'IMO'

Nice setup. You have three power relays and three temp sensors. Are they all set to the same temp? Will the heater work if just one relay is switched but at a lower wattage or does it need all three to switch on? Or are there three heaters, one of each relay? And your tank has its own emergency generator....You is THE MAN!!!!

John isnt a monster fish keeper, hes an INDUSTRIAL MFK! JohnPtC Fish Industries INC!

one heater per controller

temperatures are staggered by one deg.....one comes on

not enough the second one comes on

and if its snowing the third comes on

Agreed, where do I buy shares?

It's a thing of beauty John:hearts:.

I can't bring myself to say anything else.

It's just a shame my adoption papers got lost in the mail :(.

Ever get any oscillations in the temp controllers?

thanks and
no... they are set with a one degree hysteresis or difference setting which keeps them from jumping on and off n ear the set point

also since water takes a while to respond they have been very stable
