The best thing for cutting the big pieces is a table saw with a finishing blade (you need the protective coating on the plastic. This gives good edges. Once you get the big cuts done, use a router with carbide tip to smooth them for better edge contact.
I use a hand router, plunge router, and also a router table.
For hand power tools I like Dewalt. I will buy the home depot brand (Husky) for the larger stuff since you can save some money.

i agree but for really big stuff i use a hand held power circular saw...lower the rpm the better, like the ones for metal....i have cut 1.5 inch and 2 inch without a problem and without water. 1 inch would be a snap.
if you are only building 1 or 2 tanks buy the plexi pre cut to your dimensions........ imo/ime
or make a deal with a local cabinet maker who has a really good panel saw.
