DIY Wet/dry 20 gallon

Heres another wet dry i made, very simple. Its got all the bio media from my ten gallon filter so it doesnt fill up all the extra space have, i need to go get some, i just wanted to get it up and running. I have the eggrate sitting higher so all of my media is in full trickle mode, lol. Once i get more ill lower it. also lower the water level to.

very nice you need more bio :) what size tank is that on??? i see about 16gallons is for bio ...lol thats a good sump for me :)
 
yea ill be getting some more soon, its what i have leftover from my small wet/dry. its on a 90 gallon
 
Nice design, simple. I might just do that as well except that my bio-chamber will be almost 22 gallons maybe more. So you just have one baffle to separate the bio-chamber from the pump? What did you use to make the water trickle? A sheet of acrylic that's drilled?
 
Yup just one baffle to seperate the pump from the bio chamber. I made it as small as possible to get the most room out of the tank. And i cut a sheet of acrylic to fit perfectly where the top would go and just cut some strips to make a lip to keep water in.

i know i know the filter sock is really dirty but i rinse it real good once a day and swap it out once a week with a washed one.

I have a question.

I need some ideas on a good mech filter for the wet/dry. As you can see i have the felt sock then the blue bond. i was thinking something more reusable or anything better. Whats this poly fiber stuff?

There are several grade of felt available from cloth (sewing) stores.

A/C filter material (like the blue bond, is available from A/C suppiers by the roll in different widths.

Poly-Fil = Hypoallergenic Pillow stuffing :D. Available at walmart (by the bag) & cloth (sewing) stores (by the yard). (make sure it doesn't have a fire retardant in it, as some do, but it says so on the label).
