DIY Wet Dry Questions

I was literally staring at the tank last night and then it hit me, "$***, the water is going to run down the sides." So yeah, I think thats the real problem I am looking at. Do I ebayed 5 gallons of bioballs and they should be here monday. What size trash can is that in the picture? Whoever built the stand only cut 2 11" holes and put doors on them so fitting anything into the stand is a pain! When I made the trashcan filter fo my pond I just ziptied x amount of 1" pvc to the "eggcrate" light cover thing that was cut to size, is this how you made your hold area?

This one is probably too big for you, but any ole rubbermaid container will do the trick.

why don't you run the overflow like designed and do the wet/dry hidden on the side of the tank?

Its alright, I had no problem turning my head sideways, I still posses that ability, one of many I might add lol.

I just got back from home depot and have started on my wet dry, all I need is the package of bioballs to arrive. I am going to leave all the bioballs in the overflow, because hey why not? I bought a 54 liter/13 gallon trashcan. I have designed a spray bar that will span the length of the trashcan. The only thing that I am worried about now is if the pump goes out, how much water will continue to drain into the trash can.
