DIY - wood framed pond - am I nuts ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, I plan to have it as a year - round home. Should be OK as I’m in zone 10 SFla. There are some cold snaps once in awhile during winter, which may require some sort of heater. An example is this week forecast 3 days of lows in the 40’s. Another issue may be too much heat in the middle of summer. If direct sunlight gets the pond too hot, I may have to build a shade of some sort.

Zone 10...***sigh***...

I'm in 2b...:(

I have a red devil in there now. At some point in the next couple of weeks I’ll start adding some cats. They are pretty small at this point though. They are “staging/growing out right now in a 300g kiddie pool.

1 RTC - growing at 3x the rate of the other fish

2 RTC/TSN hybrids
1 TSN
2 Albino channel catfish.

I’ll probably add the channels cats first.

Cool I have 8 Albino channel cats and 2 blue channel cats. They are in a 75 gallon grow tank but will be moved to a 350 gallon pond when the temps outside get warmer. Trying to get their size up to be able to add them to my big pond with my 3 alligator gar. My gar are 8"-10".
