the skimmer would only skim very wet, couldnt build a good foam head. my g2 is a very old model with a short neck and collection cup, adding the 3" allows me to build a much better head.

Looking good! I just drilled my first glass tank. Practiced on an old 20g, then I was ready to go. Ended up drilling 5 holes in my brand new 190g. It's really easy. Once you get over that fear, you'll be drilling all the time

That makes sense, my 2nd skimmer did that to me and i would have to adjust it all the time. it was a coralife but figures..... Are you a reef octopus skimmer fan because I am and it figures too

reef octo's are nice, i wouldnt mind having a super reef octo.

The external models are sick but they rated for 400 gallons but hey if you get that you will
Never need another skimmer

got my plumbing done enough to get her goin(still need to add unions). also started mixing up salt in the tank.
nothing spectacular, but its progress!
