Do BGK always hide?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had my BGK over a year and grew him from around 2" up to the 8" he is today. He likes to stay in his designated hideout spot most of the time, and once in a while he'll come out for a quick stroll looking for food and stuff. When the lights go off he is more active.

i would say that for as long as your BGK has no aggressive and predatory tank mates, i wouldn't put any decors and hiding places in the tank so that you would be able to see him.

BGK's need to hide. It helps them feel more secure. and the more secure a fish is.... the more it will come out. Kind of ironic but that's how it works lol.

And yeah bloodworms are a big hit with these guys. Lol... Still trying to get mine to at least eat the Hikari sinking carnivore pellets too.

they only really need hiding spots for multipule fish, or as a safe place from more agressive tankmates...i noticed that with my 2 they fight more with no decor...they never fight with decor...i have had them since the 2-3" now they are 10"...knives were one of the first oddball fish i got...mine liked to lay on my plants that i had in the tank to start, not hide in the caves...

My 14" BGK is very active starting in the evening. During the day, the knife is in it's hideout and will only come out when I feed.
