Do bichirs lose their markings or get more as they get bigger?

So I got this 2" endli with great markings (I think) and a 3" delhezi with poor markings (according to others cause he only has 2 marks near his tail fin). Here are some pics of them. I was wondering if their markings are permanent or something. And how long could I keep them together?

His markings will stay the same. I like him though

If you put them on black sand their markings will most likely get darker and stand out more and if you put them on white sand they will get lighter and almost seem to fade, but instead of fading they will be very light. So it's not exactly age as much as surroundings. So on your del even though he has poor marking if you put him on some black sand he will get darker and look IMO much better

That del is going to stay like that. Markings don't generally change unless it's was from stress.
