Do canister filters work in half-filled tanks?

hey thanks wolf. since I'm not a big fan of places like ebay i looked at drsfostersmith.
And they had a sponge from azoo. It said that it needs airline tubing and an air pump, but if I'm gonna connect it to a powerhead, would I still need them?

ok, i kinda don't get the clear hose over the outlet, and the air hole part, cut tube off flush....but I'll post again once I get those products..hands-on
are there any people that have pictures of something similiar?(a canister intake with a powerhead in it)

and I'll probably build a stand around 27" then!

hey all.
just watched a video on how to setup a canister filter on youtube..
wow the video cleared up alot of questions I was about to type..but I now made even new questions..

This one had a spray bar as the outlet(is that what it's called??)..
are all canisters like this?

and since the water in my tank is gonna be a few inches of the top, I am thinking it's gonna cause alot of noise and splash on the tank walls(leaving calcium residue..)
but am I able to get the spray bar lower?(although in the video it seemed to hang off the top of the tank..)

and I also learned that the intake tube isn't actually just a flexible "tube" but it looked hard and had lines in it(like in any other powerfilter) but am I supposed to cut this hard part and shove my powerhead in there?
