Do certain water conditioners kill nitrates permanently???

I am now. How much do these things run ? Say I just need one for water changes on a 100 gal a 55 gal a 20 a 15 and a 10 currently Say 20 gallons of RO water a day

I think you're getting too worried about nitrate levels. If you have an established tank and are treating the water with Amquel Plus you should see no negative effects on your fish. It won't hurt you, either, unless the levels are ridiculously high (which your utility provider should be watching out for).

but few freshwater tanks have populations of these bacteria because they are anaerobic- you need an area of no oxygen in your gravel bed for this to happen..most of us dont have these conditions..

WOW. I didn't know there was anything that can get rid of Nitrate. I'm gonna have to get some of that

Anyone else with input ? and motor freak im using it to remove tap water nitrates I am not using it to stretch out my water changes so don't get to excited water changes are very necessary for many reasons.

My tanks usually have some anoxic patches (I don't deep vacuum the gravel bed), but that aside, you don't have to worry about the bound nitrates if you (A) have some healthy plants or (B) perform regular water changes. I realize that the water changes in this case will add more nitrates to replace what is taken out, but it will at least prevent buildup to high levels.

I do water changes all the time and don't plan on stopping. But it is always nice to have the nitrates lowered.
