Do Columbian sharks change COLOR???

I have 2 columbian sharks (both 2 inches long) and one of them is starting to turn white(from grey and black), even in the fins that were lined with black are fading. Whats the deal? Is this normal for columbian sharks?:confused: I know it is with some others, just not sure about these. Thanks, for any feedback.:grinno:
 
I've never kept colombian sharks specifically, but any drastic color change on a fish that doesn't revert back to normal within a few minutes is a cause for concern.

I suggest you test your water.

I test my water daily and other than slightly low PH, everything is in normal range. The strange thing is the other one isnt really changing color (not noticably). What could cause this?
 
Mine when I had got it was a light grey, and I had the black and white gravel, then when I took the gravel out and used black sand he got alot darker. Dont know if it was b/c I changed the bottem to a darker color or not:confused: but he did get darker when I changed it and has been darker ever sence

interesting...so color change isnt necc a bad thing. Thanks:)
 
i noticed theese and i do keep an arius graeffi slightly different to arius seemani. when i purchased my graeffi it was in a tannin tank. he was very dark and other graeffi in other tanks bright clear water were silver. when i placed mine in the tank he didnt change colour for a few weeks but is keeping its colour. i think its all because they are trying to camouflage if it is virtually white then........................its probably gonna die. a silver colour is normal also expect the belly to be white 24/7.

get that pH up, they do best in alkaline water. they are a brakish water fish afterall.

salinity shouldnt be a concern till they get older /just sayin.
 
yeh true bout the salintity but you could if you didnt want to setup a brackishtank when there older put them in a african hard water and alkaline water.
