I read on here somewhere, that if a crayfish loses a limb or claw, that it will regenerate? Someone posted it. Is this true? And if it is, how long will it take for a front claw to grow back? I have a blue lobster that lost a front claw. He's doing well, otherwise.

It should grow back with his next molt. It won't be the same size as the other one, but he'll have it back. Dosing iodine helps keep molts regular, as well as ensuring there's some KH (3 or 4) to the water. I use the Kent Marine Iodine for my blue cray. I just add a couple of drops (he's in a 10). If you had an iodine test, you could probably safely add more, but I don't, so I think it's safer to just add a little.

thanks. my blue lob just had a molt about a week before he lost his claw. we will see what happens on his next molt and thanks for the iodine advice.

No problem... I think that after a while, they sorta even out, but my cray is a little lopsided LOL. He's got one big claw, and one small one. He's older now, so he doesn't molt as much... He'll probably be lopsided forever!

Yeah it's true. It's not "wolverine" true. But it's true.

Wolverine? Hey, was that a University of Michigan plug?:)

ya i had a cray that got all of his legs and one of his claws eaten off by one of my fish...i gave him his own tank and he regrew everything in about 3 weeks.

wow. i be that was a site to see, a crayfish with no legs and one claw hobbling around the tank. if he recovered, i'm sure my lil guy will be OK. thanks.
