i find that too. i have 3 tigers eat beefheart as part of diet, and they grow considerably faster than the others. combine with frozen prawn & lancefish , as staple = EVEN BETTER:D
where in the Uk do you get your beefheart? I bought some from a Discus outlet ages ago and it just disintegrated when it hit the water-made helluva mess.
Do you use a butchers? Or do you know of an aquarium suppleir?

IME w/ tigers, you'll get varied growth rates even if the fish are fed the same diet and kept in the same environment. I've had some grow to about 9" in a year from 2" and some barely grow 2" in the same time period.

I agree with islander. While diet, filtration, and water changes play a big part in growth, sometimes a fish's genes are going to play a bigger part.

I personally stay away from beefheart because it is very messy and can create water quality problems.

I get mine from the market for about $1.50 per pound.

Hi Rob. ANy maiden head will sell the "Ducth Select" frozen blister packs, (usually 6 packs @ 100Grams ech for £16.00. You will find they have, Blloodworm, Krill, Discus food, beefheart etc: all in blister packs)

I don't defrost, just throw in the the frozen cubes, which my tigers engulf whole. If you throw in defrosted, it WILL mak a mess.

NO, I would never buy from a butchers, as this has not been treated properly for fish consumption, unlike the blister packs.

Water changes are the key. Anyone that has had any sort of good growth rate from any kind or Dats will inevitably have water changes as part of their reasons. Water changes is the common denominator. The reason is that they release hormones into the water that act as a growth inhibitor. The only thing that keeps this in check is large frequent water changes. Or a river which most people can't have running through their homes:) .
