Do EBJDs get more color as they grow?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i agree with the varied diet and water change upkeep statement, i purchased my ebjd at the 1 1/2 inch mark a month ago, even after the first week of ridding him of internal parasites and not eating he has already grown a half inch and colors have improved drastically, i feed mine two small meals a day, main diet being cichlid staple and omega veggie pellets and also shrimp pellets, bloodworms, and cut live panfish worms on occasion, i also notice him nibbling on the zuchinni i leave in the tank for my albino bristlenose pleco, mine seems to be vey owner responsive and comes to greet me everytime i walk in the room, even though i know he wants nothing more but for me to feed him, but he already eats the cut worms from my hand which ive never had a two inch fish do for me before, so i consider myself lucky considering he spent his first week hiding behind driftwood and moneywort with the white stringy stuff hanging from him, i also do weekly water changes and gravel cleanings every few weeks, and so far so good, i'll try to post some pics, hard to get good ones with my ebjd being so active

I really like how my little EBJDs look under the light of an Aqua-Glo light (i have 2 24" 20 watt Aqua-Glo lights on my 125. They're cheap too, 10-11$ online, probably a bit more at local stores.

how much did it cost you overall to setup your 125? because i am interested in getting rid of me 20s and upgrading to either 125 or 200 =/

Errr...I first set it up almost 5 years ago, don't remember exactly what I spent (probably a couple hundred less than a grand for everything) and bought everything from a LFS...so I probably spent alot more than I needed to.

i know around here a 125g with stand, lights, and top goes for $500 brand new, then you have to consider the cost of filtration, heating, etc. sometimes i see 125g complete with everthing on craigslist around the $150-$300 range depending on the condition and type of equipment, i got my 55g with everything off craigslist a few years back for $50

nah.. not if u get pf sand... 50 pound bag for less than 5 dollars
