Do fish react to having people around?

I didn't think so... My parameters were 0,0,5 with ph 7.2... I think that's pretty spot on.... And that was before my water change... Hence why I was thinking it could have been the fact no one was around etc, given he begs really frequently and moves around a lot when I'm here.

I know that some point over the next week I'm going to get an ammonia spike (emergency filter maintenance as clogged with sand) so I'll see if he goes back to his previous behaviour

My Oscar has gone on a 'hunger strike' while I was away for a week. Refused to eat when someone else fed him so I wouldn't say its improbable.

You obviously know exactly what my water was like from thousands of miles away... Bear in mind, this is not some idiotic minnow who's only thought is food, rather this is an intelligent animal who needs stimulation. Plus, snakeheads often die after large water changes plus can survive terrible water thanks to them being obligate air breathers. I also used to have to dose nitrate because it bottomed out all the time, causing a Cyanobacteria infestation. Trust me when I say there was nothing wrong with my water params...

I also think it is possible that fish can attach to an owner , like your situation with your snakehead my dad got a Malawi tank and the fishes get real exited when he stand up from the couch (they recognize him) but when anybody else stands up they don't seem to notice. Also with feeding they don't eat while I feed or my mom feeds but they go crazy while my dad feeds (again they recognize him)
Same thing with my rainbow cichlids, when I have to work I mostly leave the house around 6am and I cant feed them which I normally do around 10am so I have my dad feed them and the refuse to eat.

So just saying they van get attached to a person
