Simple question, do Golden Apple Snails eat plants?

Answers I've found:

- Yes
- No
- Only decaying plants.
- Only if not fed other food.
- They will eat all vegetation until it is gone.

Do they eat smaller snails like MTS too?

Seriously, all this conflicting info IS DOING MY HEAD IN.

ps. largest aquatic snail that does not eat plants?

Pomacea canaliculata do eat plants in any form. It's why they are illegal to transport in some countries and even interstate in USA. In my experience, they also show cannibalistic tendencies towards other snails but never their own kind. Do not mix them with the much more docile P. diffusa (mystery snails). Mystery snails prefer commercial foods and rotting vegetation.

All apple snails must be fed with calcium enriched foods to keep their shells intact. They are prone to shell erosion.

By the way, the largest apple snail recorded so far is Pomacea maculata at 6" but its existence remains questionable as they were never kept in captivity. Second largest would be P. insularum at 4", also of canaliculata complex. The canaliculata complex all eat plants.
