yeah, that looks a lot like a osphornemus exodon to me :)

REALLY!??! In that case i may have had one in japan and didnt even know it..lol i thought it was O. Septemfaciatus, because of the visible bands in the body. Sometimes its nice to be wrong..lol.

BTW very nice fish Hotfishgirls.

Hotfishgirls,
I hope you dont mind if i add a few pics to your thread, just so maybe you can get some more confirmation as it looks very similar to what i thought was an O. Semtemfaciatus a slightly short bodied one at that.

Fugupuff,
What are your thoughts, are these the same species?

wow, short body fish, now that is a curve ball....

to my understanding. O. septemfaciatum has not been exported before, the picture that I've seen of one from the icthyological journal, the fish appeared green with grey stripes as an adult.

As for O. exodon, I can only speak from my experience, and what the exporters tell me. I've kept one until aprox. 14". The ones recently exported, were exported as exodons, and they appear like one, unless they're infact septemfaciatum all along, and mistaken for exodon, or maybe the 2 species are synonymous?
