Actually, if your dempsey is only 2 inches and mating? Then you have their sexes mixed up. Female JD's can breed as small as 2-3 inches. Male JD's breed at minimum 3.5-4 inches. Looks to me you have a male firemouth without ANY red and a very young female JD.

Oh really? Yeah I'm not totally sure about the jd due to the fact the blue by the mouth seems to be getting more and more vibrant. I just assumed the firemouth was a female I was basing it off the fins, I havnt vented it.
