Exactly what I was thinking. That blue is stunning! Great find! Hope you can house it to it's full potential, would love to see it as a monster some day. Keep us updated.
 
Thanks guys. I will definately be keeping everyone updated as he grows. Also, I will be probing the scientific community for identification on his specific species and subspecies. As for housing him to his full potential, we have every intention on keeping him with other monsters in a true monster tank/pond. We figured he was a niger catfish of some sort when we took him home, so we knew we were getting ourselves into a big commitment.

Oh yeah, as for the discus thanks. In that photo one was a red marlboro, one was a checkerboard, and one is a yellow snakeskin. Our catfish is currently residing in our discus reject tank, which turns out to be one of the best growing tanks. Those little rejects are getting huge and two have now paired off and are breeding. Go figure.
 
Definitely looks part Niger...I've heard of a Niger x RTC hybrid before. I wonder...
