The answer to that question is always no, its usually you just don't have enough tank space. But in your case I think you are fine.

I used to get annoyed when people told me my 5.5x2x3 wasn't 180 (fill mark, wood thickness, overflow volume, etc.) Now it's me!everything sounds good to me but i never change my water more than a 1/3rd i think it shocks the fish and 20% water left in a 180 is only like 30-35 gallons if you have bigger fish they prolly hate the water being that low IMO only though
Why are you doing 80% changes anyway ... just go with a constant drip system and save yourself ALOT of work and time
You do not need to be changing that much water unless your nitrates are sky high every week, and therefore that indicates you are overstocked. Check your nitrates just before a water change. If they are very high (>50) then you should be doing high water changes. But if its <20 then you only need to change 25-45%.
