i have sand substrate and when i vaccum i have to kinda suck up some sand in order for it to suck the poop and such up the pipe, and my valve does kinda leak here and there... should i replace it ? am i really loosing that much suction with a small leak in the valve ?

anyone have a video of there python sucking big peice of poop and dirt up without sucking up all the sand, i was told i should just be able to houver above the sand and it should suck the dirt/poop up is this true ?

what sand do you have? i just hover the siphon over the sand and i loose no sand.

if your siphon is leaking you need to get that fixed. it is like drinking soda through a straw with a hole in the straw

I have white PFS and I've lost some since I've had this setup due to the valve leaking the part that attachs to the faucet
oh the part that attaches to the faucet is leaking sorry i misread
if it is leaking that far away the hose should still be still siphoning strong idk

i don't have a python i just have a regular siphon with a hose going to the sink and i have no problems with my sand getting sucked up

I use a 30" tube for my python and it sucks the sand as well but I pull it up several inches before the sand reaches the hose so that it falls out from the tube. Order two new valves, replace current one and keep the other one as a back up. I can't easily get them when I need them so I keep an extra one in stock.

Chop up the turd with the edge of the Python tube, it will come up easier.
You may just need to replace the O-ring that sits between the faucet and the Python attachment, you should be able to get one at any home supply/hardware store, unless that is, there is a crack in the Python plastic.
I have (after the plastic end cracked) used a metal hose end from the hardware store, just clamped it to the Python flexible tube. (just make sure it will fit on the faucet without stripping it)

Ya there is a newish o ring same as garden hose flat washer seal in it, I have other I can try as well, but if ya have the valve in front of ya on the table there is the part that screws into the faucet then there is a seperate piece underneath it that has a small o-ring inside it it leaking between those two pieces .. Maybe the little black oring is bad I'm not really sure, but it only sucks up pleco poop doesn't really suck up my oscar poop unless I stick it in the sand to help it float to the top and get sucked out ya know ?
