Do iredcent sharks really get to 1m+?

All sources say they do, but I vividally remember my aunt's iredcent shark only being ~60cm before it died and they had it for more than 2 years. There also farmed and eaten commonly in my home country and all the ones I've seen at the wet market are also around 60cm.

I'm quite sure a few have grown that size in the wild possibly in a Public Aquarium.
 
2 years is not old enough to grow to full size. And the farms don't grow them larger because their growths slows down with age and therefore it's more beneficial to feed multiple fish to the length of 50-60 cm than to bring just a few to the length of 1 m. Also the big ones are harder to handle and also taste less good.
