I've been reading on the web that a male that is not completly matured will mature alot quicker with a female that is mature. At the moment I have a 10 inch male motoro that does not have full grown claspers, but on Sunday I picked up a 14 inch female motoro that is 3 years old and fully matured and a 10 inch female. How long do you think it could take for him to have fully rolled claspers and be ready to breed with my female?

i heard opposite and they will mature faster with other males in the tank...

really? I'll try to find the link I found it on. It said that female release some kind of hormone when they are ready to breed and this makes the males mature faster?

Yes darcy i have also read that some where . I was told the female will let the male know when she is ready cant think where i read it tho

I read it on frank's site heres the link:

I think that when a female is ready to mate she releases some kind of feromoon ( I hope this is a good English word) in the water which tells the male I 'm ready to mate. Needless to say that we talk about adult animals who are completely acclimatized in their environment.
The male can ( is my own experience and saw it with other rays also) develop his claspers within 3 months. From small closed claspers to, open and big claspers. I think this very rapid grow is triggered under influence of the feromoon of the female.

interesting

I just need my female to mature .... :) then we can get some leo/motoro or some hystrix/motoro pups going :)
