do more frequent water changes increase the rate of growth?

Jack Wattley did a lot os studies on water changes and growth with his discus.

In one experiment he took a two groups of discus. In one tank he changed 90% of the water per day and had a large sponge filter in the tank.

In the other tank he placed a large air stone and did eight 90% water changes per day.

He kept this up over a couple of months. Fed the fry the same amount of food and ended up seeing double the growth out of the fish that received the eight 90% water changes per day.

Water changes do affect growth.
