I got 2 electric blue jack dempsys about may or june. They both where babies and about a inch in size. since then they have tripled in size. they eat good are hardy and real active. One is dominate and i could tell from the start as soon as i put the 2 in the tank. What was funny is the dominate one statred off as the smaller of the 2. I know that eb jacks have the tendency to have deformaties and was wondering if some of you experts can tell me.

This is the first one. Its the dominate one and from the first day i got the 2 i could tell. Its like its from a diffrent liter than the other one and is way more active and out going. Its eats anything an is a greedy pig and its like its never had enough food. Its always in the open and never hides. the most active and outgoing fish in my tank.

This is the second one. Started off as the bigger one but has since been passed up in size. Constanly harrased by the dominate one. It looks kinda funny to me i think it might have the beak face.

thanks barracuda.. on that last pictures yu can see that white stuff on the plastic plants does any body know what it is? Some kind of build up?

Your two ebjds do not seem to have pronounced beak faces. A lot of times you can see the beak faces when very young....but this is not the case with your fish. What I have noticed is that ebjds that show very little if any beak face when young, WILL develop a slight beak as they grow older 6"+...... and this is perfectly normal. I had over 30 ebjds at one point... sold off the ones that had "imperfections" such as beak, crooked spine, etc.....as I grew the rest to about 4"s, I sold off the ones that developed a beak and eventually only kept one..... it did not develop a slight beak until about 6.5"s...... very slight.....

Nice fish btw.

I see a very slight bit of it in the first but definitely in the 2nd. Not the worst beak face I have seen by a long shot though.
Still very pretty fish.
