In search of Leiarius
would it benefit the fish to have a light fixture over the tank?

Right now I've stopped using lights and the tank only gets ambient light from morning sun and the room it is in. So my tank stays in mostly darkness.

The fish I have are in my tank setup tab to the left.

I think they would be fine. In the wild they only get ambient light anyways. Not to mention, they can go a lot deeper in the wild than most fish tanks allow.

Hmm with people I know the whole Vitamin D thing comes into play but there are fish that live in caves that get 0 light so they should be fine without any artificial light.

Cool, i just wanted to make sure I wasn't stressing them out.

the darker it is the usually the less stress on the fish actually. just make sure that from time to time they get some "natural light"

They get an hour or two or morning sun every day.

As long as they can tell when it's day time and when it's night time your fine. Ambient light from the room or the sun is fine.

Yah the tank is pitch black at night.
