from what i've heard GT have the word terror in there name for a reason and will give your O hell. I'm not talking from experience here just from what i've heard from others. I wanted to get e GT myself but deceided against it. Guess it all come down to the individual fish. good luck either way.

lol. the word terror has nothing to do with its aggression. but i agree every fish has a different personality. people always looked down on me when i say i have oscars, angel fish, orinos and an arowana in the same tank. but all of em are very passive and never fight. so if you really want too, go ahead and get the GT, just make sure he is about the same size as your oscar, watch them closely when you add him to the tank. oh what are you using to filter the tank?

for a while I had 2 Oscars and a GT in one of my 75 gallon tanks at first the GT was the king of the tank until the Oscars got to around the 6" mark then the Oscars took over and put the GT in it's place. The Oscars would often try and chase the GT around until I finally moved him to my other 75 gallon. The mix could work but there's always a chance it won't. So I'd just be prepared for the possibility that someday they might not get along and you need to separate them.

A large tank with lot's of places to hide will work. Just make sure that you have plants or other objects so that they won't see each other that much. I have heard that some GTs bully other large cichlids. Saw it one time in youtube. Personality does count though.

got a quetion...

would it not work out due to the fish's bio-load? or because of their agression? if it's their bio-load can't you over come that by doing more frequent and thorough water changes/gravel cleaning? and also better filtration?

The bioload of an Oscar and Green Terror in 75 gal. of water w/ 50% weekly water changes should be a non-issue so long as the pump/filter/media size matches or exceeds the volume of water. 1 gal. of water per ever 1 inch of fish is the formula I've read time and time again but that's not 100% accurate. Fish need room to swim - aggressive fish also need territory to call home. Oscars are kinda lazy - GT's as adults are kinda Hyper - this difference in behavior may make this pairing stressed. 4ft of distance is not a lot of running room for large new world cichlids. As a pair of juvies yes within a year maybe no.

The 1 inch per gallon guidleline is a POS

Fish (or any other 3D object) increase in volume faster than the increase in length. ie a 2" cube is 8 cubic inches, a 4" cube is 64 cubic inches.

If the fish don't decide to kill each other, it will work. If one doesn't like the other, the tank isn't big enough for one to have it's own area.

Just a little input...Oscars vary WIDELY in attitude. I've seen them mean, yet I have one that's a weiner. He's in with a JD and the JD shows no aggression. yes, they're in a 110 tall, but they hang out together with 3 parrot fish. the syno i have in that tank is the most aggressive. GT seem to be the same in attitude variation and it is important to start them out small...the oscar being the largest and established like you have...luck of the draw. I have proven that you can have larger fish in a smaller tank IF you are willing to take on the additional care required. Over filter, water changes of 50% a week (no this will not kill them). Because of their eventual size, the tank should be bigger to keep any aggression down and they should be well fed. keep us posted

My male GT got to 8-9" and was huge in diameter in less than a year. There's no way I'd put a GT & an Oscar in a 75 g, that's just nuts. A 125 g is the minimum. I had an Oscar and the GT together in an 8' tank and they did fine until the GT got bigger. Then even though the Oscar was still the bigger fish the GT started picking at him so I took the GT out. I can't imagine having the 2 in a 75 g, that's way too small. I know they look tiny now as babies, but they grow fast.
