Red eye species normally have normal growth rates for their beaks... so as long as they are given a crunchy diet you shouldn’t need to trim their teeth manually...

i have snails in the tank now i didnt expect him to be so big when i bought him. my pea puffer only eats snails, scuds, and leeches will the red eye eat larger prey? i would like to collect some wild cray fish, acclimate them to saltwater then back to fresh to get rid of parasites then breed them for feeders. i was also wondering of they accept insects like crickets and mealworms. since my pea puffer (i got him fully grown so i think he mightve been full grown when collected) refuses anything that isnt alive im a little reluctant to buy a new type of frozen food for him but i was thinking about buying clams or frozen krill.

oh and i was also wondering if redeyes eat shrimp. everyone says a pea puffer will if they get hungry enough but they never seem to go after the cherry shrimp will a red eye have a stronger feeding response to shrimp? and should i feed them larger snails like fully grown ramshorn snails and young mystery snails.

You can’t acclimate crays to saltwater, it would kill the crayfish.
Redeye puffers are still small, and couldn’t take a crayfish. Small shrimps and clams are on the menu though. It’s probably gonna eat the same as the dwarf puffers though.

crays can acclimate to salt temporarily theyre very hardy creatures. id acclimate them back of course whithin 12 hours. im talking about breeding them and feeding off 1-2 inch baby crays
