I wouldn’t tear apart the tank looking for them.

i have quite a few snail breeding tanks. im kind of concerned with the petco snails i dont know why. i tried cracking them and came to the same conclusion. i removed most of them and through them in a different tank. should i be worried about him trying to eat any i miss or is it not a hige concern? theres no substrate for the mts to live undetected in.
I'd get them as I see them. All you need are some ramshorn or ponds. You have plenty of time their beaks grow slow. I don't know what substrate you have, but you need sand. They dive into the sand when spooked.

I agree, puffers like a substrate to play in, preferably sand.

im using a thick layer of leaf litter as the substrate so im not very concerned with it as far as diving and hiding purposes.

heres some pictures hes been eating really good. the people at lfs keep telling me not to feed him too much because they say it could kill him. i think its just because im buying all their baby rabbit snails requesting them as feeder snails.

There is some validity to the store’s point.
Puffers will eat until they explode, it’s up to you to know when to stop.
But yeah, they are probably also annoyed about the snails.
Have you tried breeding pond snails?

i breed bladder snails but i buy extra for my baby botia loaches. one of the store employees cant tell the difference between rabbit snails and mts snails the rabbits are 11$ so ive been buying all the small rabbit snails for 25c each. i think theyre just alarmed by how many snails im buying.

i seeded his tank a month in advance with nematodes micro invertebrates and snails so he is constantly snacking hopefully this wont become unhealthy.
