Do streamers grow back? ASAP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ya the streamers were bitten completely off. Can will be the difference in look appeal?

Yeah, won't look as nice as it use to, but that's okay as long as your happy and the fish is healthy, that's all that really matters. I've never seen a black arowana bigger than 24" that is in perfect condition. It takes experience and the right housing to grow a perfect specimen.

i bought my baby aro 4 days ago but i don't see any progress in the bottom streamers growing back. How long does it take?

What about the "bunny ear" thingy on its forehead? Looks like a oversized scale on its forehead. Does that grow back? What's the function?

Since the major blood vessel doesn't run that deep down the streamers themselves, it generally takes a few months to grow them back. Don't expect any progress until a least a month. It will first become rounded then continue to grow a few more inches from where it broke off. You should get a picture of the bunny hear thing, but if it's what I think it is, it will grow back but takes more time compared to major fins. Scales grow back within a few months too, the process is different though. First the new scale grows from left to right, it will look much thinner than the rest, as you can see the color behind the scales more clearly. Next it will harden and become darker than the normal ones, and when it's all finish, it will look like all the other scales again.
