I was woundering how many of you guys/girls in here are hated or dislike because you like fish, or better yet because your hobby is a fishkeeper?
I get that alot, all my friends except fro 4 think I m a idiot because I m into fishes and the girls dont really like me for that reason. My mother told me that I NEED TO GROWN UP and leave my fishes alone. So neo what do you think? are we really that weird cause we care about fishes?

of all people she should respect your hobby, shes the one that needs to grow up.

all we do is put time, money and good ol TLC to care for our pets :grinno:, just like any other huma nbeing who has compasion for their animals.
 
How can someone think you are strange for keeping fish? its a damn pet, just like a dog or a cat. And if they throw out the fact that they arent cuddley, remind them that fish CANNOT **** on the floor. People like that are useless to me.
 
I do get alot of people who think im 'a bit off' with all my tanks -Mostly i get these stupid comments about how people want to eat my fish - Im like "excuse me if I dont laugh ,thats so old :nono: " I mean i dont go around talking about wanting to eat peoples puppies and kittens .I also think alot of people are jealous too :grinyes:
 
my bro thinks im a geek for bein on this site and thinks that big fish tanks are stupid and any thing to do with fish other than eating them is stupid. my mom thinks im wasting my time and should do normal things. But like one of my friends always says "why be normal?"
 
Ive experienced both sides.

Some look at my tank and say wow, I wish I could have that in my house!

Some think that its a waste of time and good money.

You can probably guess who gets to ride on my boat and motorcycle. :)
 
I am 16, so I don't know if age has anything, but whenver I have my friends over they love my tank. One time I had 3 friends just sit infront of my tank for 30minutes. Everyone likes my tanks because of all the different things in it, periwinkles, hermit crabs, crabs, shrimp, fish... They do find it a little wierd about how much time I spend to catch the fish and feed the li'll monsters, but they are still impressed. But the only things is, the girls seem to be more intrested in the Sea Robin then in me...Ha :naughty:
 
Most people think my fish are cool. When I show people the fish that I eventually want to have their mouths hit the floor!
 
Ive actually even had a pet shop worker think that Im slightly odd and say something like..."you must REALLY like fish"

guess Im in there to much, she was more of a reptile person anyway...hehehe
