I have never personaly owned a snakehead but is thinking about keeping a micro. jsut wondering if these fish have mutch of a peronality? do they interact with you, especialy when bigger? or do they just cruise around and do there own thing? was always curious, thanks.

red / micros . are very owner interactive , this does decrease with age , but they do make a great "pet fish" BUT you have to give them the set-up they deserve or they will sulk a lot . if you can provide a 8-10 ft by 3 ft x 3ft or larger and set it up how they like then they will be very rewarding fish , if you cannot provide that sort of size tank just forget about a micro ,

I live in BC canada, so there NOT illigal here. thanks for the feedback, I was planning on putting it in a 8x4x2tall tank. you say it can decrease with age?

they're over interactive, to the point of treating your fingers as snack

i mean as they get older they slow down a lot , they will still perk up and come and see you when you go to the tank , but rarther than swim about madly like when younger then tend to sit on the floor for most of the time when older -i.e above the 3ft mark.

this is true for all snakeheads , there is only pleuro that stays active all there life

I only owned gachuas and obscuras, but to tell you the truth I see no personality in them at all. They just do their own thing, and hide most of the time, again i'm only speaking of what species I had. But I do love them for what they are, interesting fish indeed. When I tell people that channa have a breathing apparatus that allows them to breathe oxygen outside of water, they are more impressed with that then say, a simple goldfish. haha
