You can feel it pushing water up to 1/2 way down the tank (4'). So even one should be more than enough for a 6' tank. I've got 850 gph ones in my 6' tanks and they push the water 3'. You'll also have water movement from your filters so you should be in great shape.

If you get the spare cash I would really recommend the Magnum's, mine is top notch - short of a TUNZE it's the best powerhead I've ever owned. Although there are plenty of high priced ones out there for salt water tanks that probably blow it away.
